Our approach to the BTEC Media Studies curriculum

Media Studies allows pupils to develop practical skills to create their own media products as part of their assessment which is in part through workplace focused assignment briefs. These media products can range from creating magazines, cover design, print adverts, posters and flyers. Within Media Studies you will develop the ability to interpret and understand how media products have been created, and the social political aspects of their design.

High Quality Teaching which is responsive to the needs of pupils is at the heart of the curriculum. Teachers are aware of the pupils in their class who have special education needs and adapt their teaching to meet actions outlined in their Education Health Care Plan.

We have:

· High ambitions and set stretching targets for all

· clear tracking of progress towards these targets

· Regular reviews of the additional or different provision that is made for them

· A commitment to promote positive outcomes in the wider areas of personal and social development

We aim to encourage pupils to consider non-stereotyped career options.
